Understanding Laura

I am a crunchy oddball with too many ideas and too little time. Do you get me now?

I'm Out From Under My Rock

I've been battling postpartum depression and mastitis.
I'm an anti-social hermit humbug who wants nothing cheery within arms reach.

There. I've said it.

And I made a quilt!
Forgive me my mood swing.

3 keyrings
1 tub of Vick's Vaporub
1 prescription bottle cap
1 tube of chapstick

Aren't they fun?? I'll put pictures up of Kellie wearing them later tonight. Check back!

Wonder of Wonders...

Miracle of miracles!

Kellie put herself to sleep.

Nah nah nah nah nuh nah!
Dance dance, shimmy shimmy!
Shake!

I put her down in her crib so I could take a shower. And I came back to a sleeping baby!

Party!

Shh! Don't wake the baby!

Can You Believe It??

Kellie has been showing an increasing interest in what Brian and I are eating.

Last weekend, while at Subway, she giggled, kicked, and stared as we each ate our subs.
All week she was enthralled with what went into our mouths.

We were still planning on waiting to start her on solids.
But then the second sign our pediatrician gave us started.
She started nursing every hour to hour and a half.

So, we went for a walk to the shopette to get some baby cereal.
And tonight, she tried carrots!

I went into this with much trepidation, and if she had shown any sign of dislike, I would have stopped and waited for the recommended six months.

But she gobbled it up!

And was quite pleased with the new texture, taste, and all around-goodness that was her breastmilk-carrot-rice mixture.

We caught it all on our camcorder (Thanks Grandmom and Granddad!).

We had lots of fun!
Can you tell?

Teething

It's impossible for me to take my own picture without coming-on to the entire population of BlogLand. So I got creative.
If you look closely, you'll notice that my two front teeth have merged to create a super-human megatooth. My real pearly whites are being custom-made in a laboratory downtown. I'll have them on in time to see all my friends and family in Utah. At least, that's what they tell me... They also told me temporary crowns don't look "that bad."
Perhaps they're lying?
I finally understand teething pain in it's full glory. Kellie and I can cry together. The pain I referred to in my previous post was caused by none other than the fiendish Zoom! whitening.
Hold me?

Shh! She's sleeeeeping!

I'm going to sneak off to bed. Don't tell Kellie.

Goodnight!

You Mock My Pain!

Life is pain, Highness! Anyone who says differently is selling something.

Yeah. Like Zoom!

Ow! Owie! Owie owie owie owie! OWIE!

This is a 9 out of 10 possible pain points. I want my epidural!

On a happy note, Kellie is sitting up now. Not on the floor. In Brian's lap... For about ten seconds at a time... After he sits her upright. She can hold it until she gets excited and flops her hands about, making her fall over.

But she does it for ten seconds-ish!

Jimmy Crack Corn

When I was a kid, I rollerbladed into a van and busted out half of each of my front teeth. The dentists I've seen over the years have told me time and time again that I'd need a root canal due to nerve damage. Well, one made it through the 12 years since the incident without a root canal. I've had caps on them and have always hated how discolored they are. I'm unable to bleach my teeth since the caps shade of whiteness won't change. I'd have corn teeth.

Well, say hello to Mrs. Corn Teeth!

I have an appointment tomorrow to have my teeth bleached. I have another appointment on Wednesday to have... (Drum roll please.) Crowns put on!!

After the Zoom whitening, my two front teeth will likely look very odd. It's only for two days. And then I'll have pearly whites! I haven't had pearly whites... well... ever.

What if I'm like Ross on "Friends" and my teeth glow in the dark? Whatever will I do?
