Understanding Laura

I am a crunchy oddball with too many ideas and too little time. Do you get me now?

Super Dad

I caught Kellie's stomach bug. It was the most horrifying experience I've ever been through as a mom. Poor Kellie was so scared of my retching. She even started fake-retching and giggling about it. :(

While I was out of the loop, Brian took over everything-Kellie. I mean everything. I was toast for 36 hours and he cared for Kellie's food, diapering, and playtime needs. I even wanted to buy disposable diapers to make things easier on him. You know what he did? He washed our cloth diapers. Serious.

Brian and I have a saying that is frequently revisited: That's why Kellie has two parents.

It's so true. Kellie and I would have been a train wreck without his help.

Here's three cheers for Super Dad!

Kitty. Bye Bye.

Kellie has a deep love for kitties.
Keeta is her favorite kitty because she will sit still for Kellie's petting.
Kellie often sits at the baby gate going down to the basement, clacking her little tongue and calling for Keeta.
All this while signing our homemade sign for "kitty."
(After observing me calling kitties and rubbing my fingers together like I have a treat, she made up her own sign. She prefers it to the ASL version of "cat.")
Normally, Keeta ignores her unless I'm helping Kellie call her up.
Tonight, surprisingly, Keeta came up the stairs!

This is what I heard from the kitchen:

Kellie: Kitty. Kiiiiiitty. Keeta. Kitty!
Keeta: jingle jingle Purrrrr...
Kellie: Kitty! KITTY! excited scream
Keeta: thump thump thump back downstairs

(Kellie has ear-piercing screams. Especially when happy.)

Kellie: Kitty! cry
Mom: Oh no! What happened?
Kellie: Kitty. sniffle Bye bye.

I can't believe she's putting words together! Wow! Just...wow!

Thanks for letting me share my proud-MaMa moment with you. I'm all warm and fuzzy with love for this little angel. She's just so sweet and bright.

Hey Daddy, Hey Daddy, Hey!

Because Ruthie reminded me how much you love little ponies on girly goos.

Kellie's hair is long enough to pony!!

Domestic Diva

Just pictures for now.
I had a quick moment to share with you the things I've made.

A babywearing coat. Brian calls it Kellie's turtle shell
(Turle in a half shell - Turtle Power!)

The bungee makes it possible to tuck Kellie's arms in,
thus eliminating the need for a coat/snowsuit.

Leather-soled booties.
Alas, they are too small for Beansie. Boohoo.
